Dear Church Family, Just a few words before Sunday— After such a great week with Rennie Showers, we would like to hear your response!   After we  chat with George and Shirley Weber via Skype (hopefully), we will dedicate the Sunday School hour to some “debriefing” of what was gleaned from the series “What on earth is God Doing?”.Read More →

To quote the late Dave Niehaus who was the voice of the Seattle Mariners as a broadcaster:  “My Oh My!” No, I’m not talking about home runs, but I am talking about our current series with Rennie Showers, “What on Earth Is God Doing?”  While the impact may not feel as exhilarating as a home run, Rennie’s insights and teaching have been very impactful—and it is only Tuesday!  For some he is sharing new information, for others it is a refreshing review.  Needless to say, there is something for everyone and it seems that each session just gets better!Read More →

Just a few updates and reminders 1.     PRAY for Youcef—our Iranian brother in Christ who is facing execution for his refusal to recant his faith in Christ as well as other false charges against him.  I urge you to  go to this website:  for  more information and opportunity to respond Above all, let’s pray for Youcef and his family—to “Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body” (Heb. 13: 3) 2.     PRAY for and PLAN to attend our upcoming series, “What on Earth is God Doing?” with Dr. Renald Showers  and  “The Gathering Storm”Read More →

Dear Church Family, “I am the Vine, you are the branches….” (John 15:5) “Christ lives in me….” (Gal. 2:20) “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Col. 1:27) The spiritual reality of this union is absolutely astounding.  Maybe the better word is “incomprehensible,” even “mystifying,” as it describes the union between Christ and His betrothed bride (the church).  Author Bruce Demarest observes that this union “transcends complete human understanding.” While we are not able to fully comprehend this great truth, we accept what God’s Word says as absolute Truth and such Truth is outside of man.   On this topic Bruce Demarest continues:  “This side ofRead More →

Dear Church Family, As most or all of you have heard, Doris Cox was peacefully ushered in to the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ early Tuesday morning, September 6th.  The memorial service for Doris will be on Saturday, September 17th at 1:00 here at the church. George and the rest of the family are grieving, but as George related, much of his grieving was watching his dear wife of 63 years struggle the last few weeks.   Thankfully we have the certainty of hope and heaven in the midst of our grieving! This Sunday, in our five part series on “Christ Alone”, weRead More →

Dear Church Family, I trust things are going well for each of you as summer, as brief as it was, has been winding down.  You can feel that touch of fall in the air can’t you?  I am always reminded that the changing of the seasons is a wonderful display of God’s faithfulness as all creation continues what He set in motion—just as He designed it. Speaking of God’s design and His providential plan, this is a good time to remind you of our upcoming series with Dr. Renald Showers October 16-23.  The title of the series is from his book “What on Earth isRead More →

Dear Church Family, Everybody is starting to feel that hint of summer—and it sure feels good doesn’t it?  Our mission’s team in Spain reports temperatures in the 90’s and up to 105 the other day (but no complaints!).   This week they have been very busy in English Camp and squeezed in a trip to a palace in Madrid today.  We’ll be sharing more pictures on Sunday. Speaking of Sunday—this Sunday (July 3) will be the Harvey’s last Sunday with us.  Pastor Troy has accepted the call to pastor the First Baptist Church of Whitefish, Montana.  They will be leaving Olympia on the fifth of JulyRead More →

Dear Church Family, Enemy #1. . . .The FBI has their list, local authorities have theirs, Homeland Security as theirs. . .but who is our “Enemy #1”?  Some would say that we are our own worst enemy, or in other words, we ourselves  are enemy #1.  It might seem this is the truth, but that theory may have some flaws.  First, if I am truly my own worst enemy, then I could do something about that.  All I would need to do is make some adjustments,   change my behavior, or even change my attitude.  What is the  major flaw with this theory?  It is tragicallyRead More →

Dear Church Family, So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms andRead More →

Dear Church Family,It’s coming. The end of the world as we know it is coming.Well, according to Harold Camping the end of the world is more imminent than we know!  I do believe the time is near, but how near is the question.  The problem is, we just don’t know when—though Camping is convinced that this Saturday, May 21 is the date of the rapture.  In Mark 13:32-22 Jesus said, “Of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.”  Camping’sRead More →
