For The Teens

Terri and I, along with Mike, Brian, and seven of you spent three days at TLC (Teen Leadership Conference). TLC is designed to provide northwest churches a winter camp that is gospel centered and encourages spiritual growth and leadership through the teaching and preaching of God’s Word.

You also attended four workshops that peaked your interest. These workshops included Missional Living, How Do I Know Who to Date? Insights from the Song of Song, Relinquishing Lust, Counter Culture—Homosexualit, Can We Trust the Bible, Holy Zingers, Identity in Christ, Spiritual Depression, and Real Forgiveness.

As we talked about the workshops we attended during our breakout session, we communicated what we liked or didn’t like about the workshops. We explained how it pertained to us in the real world or how, maybe, some things where more opinion based then biblical. However, we didn’t come out with what we were going to do with this information we received.

What are YOU going to do with the instructions you received? What is the take away YOU have from these past few days together?

Scott Mehl (Keynote Speaker) said “God will not do anything He has asked YOU to do”. That made me really stop and think for a moment. As we continue to study Ephesians together, this fits into where we are headed.

4 1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;  5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore it says,
“When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.”

11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; ~Eph 4:1-8 & 11-12 NASB

You see, you were given gifts at the discretion of Jesus, working through the Holy Spirit for ministry for the Body! “The primary purpose of the Church isn’t to convert sinners to Christianity, but to “perfect” (complete and mature) the saints for the ministry and edification of the Body. “ (Chuck Smith). These individuals gave you instructions, to help equip you for service because this is what their gifts are, so you will work in service.

SO again, NOW WHAT are you going to do with your learnings?
